Torstein Bjørklund is a Norwegian director based in Oslo, who moved to the other side of the camera after training as an actor — a background that likely explains his sharp instinct for performance and actor direction.
His work is defined by a bittersweet, precise and deeply human sense of comedy, where absurdity always slips in with elegance. Torstein is drawn to simple, everyday stories, subtly shifting them just enough to reveal humor, emotion or discomfort.
In addition to his commercial work, Torstein is an accomplished fiction director. His debut TV series, the HBO hit comedy Basic Bitch, broke subscription records upon release and won the Gullruten Award (the Norwegian TV award) in 2022. His latest series, Fling (TV2), also received a Gullruten nomination.
